Sewing a Miniature Doll Bed

Hello everyone! Don't you just love miniature size stuff? Well, I absolutely love doll sized things, which is why I made this little bed! Read on to find out how I made it.

Here's what you'll need:
• 2 jewelry boxes of equal size with the little cotton insert things (if they don't have the inserts, you can use cotton balls or quilt batting)
• Fabric scraps and trim*
• Hot glue gun or just regular glue
• Masking tape
• Small plastic lid, such as from a yogurt container
• Cotton balls or other stuffing material

* You'll need one larger square of fabric for the bed, two smaller squares for the quilt, and two tiny squares for the pillow. Measure these to size after you have assembled the base of the bed. Don't forget seam allowances for the pillow and blanket!

1. Glue the two box lids together side by side (see photo at right). You will probably need to use a little masking tape to help hold them together.
2. Glue the each of the boxes upside down on the lids, leaving a ledge for the yogurt lid (which will be your headboard). You will probably need to use a LOT of masking tape to help hold them on! Don't worry, the bedding will cover all the tape.
3. Cut the bottom edge off the yogurt lid and glue it on the ledge you left.
4. Glue your cotton inserts to the top of the bed for the
 mattress.
5. Cut a rectangle of fabric big enough to come almost to the very bottom of the bed. (See next set of photos, below.) Measure around the bottom of the bed and cut a piece of trim to go all the way around.

6. Carefully glue the fabric to the bed, folding in the corners near the end.
7. Glue the trim around the bottom edge.
8. Measure and cut two pieces of fabric big enough for the blanket plus a seam allowance. Sew them together. Make the pillow the same way and stuff it with whatever cotton, fabric scraps, or other stuff you happen to have lying around.
9. Now it's time to make your bed! The blanket on this bed stuck out on the edges, so I used a couple of pieces of masking tape to keep the edges down.
