Hello, folks! This is the second post about our recent trip to Delray Beach (first post
here). I'm shore you'll want to sea some pictures of the ocean, so here you go (goodness, wasn't this pun-ishing to read?).

I think this was some kind of weird shell. |
We got to go swimming in the ocean every day for the first week or so we were there, although later on in our vacation, there were rip current warnings and sea lice (baby jellyfish that sting you and then itch really badly).

We swam in the hotel's heated swimming pool every day. I found a floaty thing sitting by the side of the pool one day that someone had left there. It was kind of this round swim ring with a mesh seat in the middle, but it wasn't really much of a float. When I sat in it, my head sank down and my knees floated up. That's when I realized I was actually sitting in it backwards.

Very unripe bananas growing at our hotel. (They won't be ripe enough for me until they're pretty much black. However, normal people might eat them when they're yellow.) 6/4/16 |
These brown lizards are very, very common in South Florida. Once, we fed one of these lizards bits of leftover food for a few days, and the next time we saw him, it looked like he had gained an awful lot of weight. (This one pictured below isn't the one -- this is another one that didn't mind having his portrait taken.)

Pathway to the ocean 6/4/16 |
I found three shark teeth on the beach and in the ocean one day. Esther told me that now there was most likely some poor toothless shark looking for his teeth, but I think if losing three teeth made him toothless, he probably wasn't much of a shark to begin with anyway.
|
It was breezy almost the entire first week we were there. 6/4/16 |
We did get some rainy days while we were there, unavoidable if you're in Florida for two weeks. It would be sunny in the morning, and by lunchtime, we would have to run back to our room. We would eat lunch on our porch and watch the rain pour down in sheets.
|
Storm moving out over the ocean. |
Florida is known for its high humidity, and combined with our room, which was known for its low temperatures due to the AC, stepping outside would make your glasses fog up.
|
The resemblance between these two is striking. (Esther's the one on the right, in case you couldn't tell the difference...) |
When it wasn't raining, Esther and I enjoyed basketball, shuffleboard, ping-pong, and croquet games on the lawn.
|
I enjoyed the Ping-Pong balls more like this than running after them. Playing Ping-Pong with Esther made me have to run after balls a lot. |
|
Ping-Pong paddles are just so useful sometimes. |
A sign near the games.
And this is why children can't check out the equipment from the office...
Thanks for reading! Be sure to read my last post about our vacation, coming soon!
